A landing page for advertising: how to build one
The click is paid for, the person has arrived — and everything is decided in the next few seconds. The landing page either confirms what the ad promised or loses the person along with the money for the click. This is the cheapest place in all of advertising to improve.
Every ad group must lead to a page that answers its own query, not to the homepage. The first screen has to repeat the ad's promise: the same timeline, the same price, the same condition. A mismatch between promise and content is the most common reason for expensive requests when the ad settings themselves are fine.

Why you cannot point advertising at the homepage
The person searched for something specific: «air conditioner installation in a flat». They land on a homepage with twelve services, a slider and an «about us» section. Now they have to find what they came for themselves. Some will; most will leave.
The rule: every ad group leads to a page that answers its own query. If no such page exists, it needs building before launch, not after.
Matching promise to content affects more than conversion. Ad platforms assess landing page quality and lower the cost per click for those who score higher. So a relevant page saves money twice.
What a working page consists of
- The first screenThe heading repeats the ad's promise. The subheading adds detail. Here too: the price or its range, and the action button.
- What is includedThe specific contents of the service, as a list. No generalities.
- Price and termsWhat it costs, what it depends on, what is included and what is paid separately.
- How it worksStages and timelines. This removes half the objections.
- ProofPhotos of work, reviews with names, certificates, the guarantee.
- Answers to questionsReal ones, taken from phone conversations.
- The actionA repeated form or button. One action, not five different ones.
Matching the ad
There should be no gap between the ad copy and the page's first screen. A simple check: read the ad, then look at the page and ask yourself whether the promise is confirmed.
| The ad promises | The page must show |
|---|---|
| «Installed in 1 day» | The timeline on the first screen |
| «From 3000» | The same figure, not «price on request» |
| «3-year guarantee» | The guarantee stated explicitly |
| «Free call-out» | The call-out terms |
A mismatch is the most common reason for a high cost per request when the ad settings themselves are fine.
Common mistakes
- Too many target actions. Call, write, download, subscribe, request a callback. The person chooses between them and does nothing.
- The site menu on a landing page. It leads people away from the page you paid for.
- No price. The person came from an ad that had one and cannot find it on the page.
- An eight-field form. Every extra field costs you a share of the requests.
- Slow loading. Especially critical for paid traffic: the person does not wait.
- Stock photography. Smiling people from a photo bank lower trust more than having no photos at all.
Mobile comes first
Most paid traffic arrives from phones. That is where the page should be checked first.
- The heading and button are visible without scrolling.
- The phone number is tappable and dials immediately.
- The form can be filled in with one hand.
- The price is readable without zooming.
- Nothing extends past the edge of the screen.
How to improve it
Not by rebuilding the whole thing, but by changing one element at a time and watching the numbers.
- Start with the first screen: the heading and the button give the fastest effect.
- Let data accumulate — a week at minimum, or several dozen requests.
- Compare cost per request before and after.
- Lock in what worked and move to the next element.
The first-screen heading: how to write it
Most of the «stay or leave» decision rests on it. The working formula is simple: what you do, who for, and with what tangible result.
| Weak | Stronger |
|---|---|
| Professional apartment renovation | Turnkey apartment renovation in 45 days with a fixed estimate |
| Dentistry in Tashkent | Painless dental treatment: same-day appointment, price known in advance |
| Website development | A site that brings requests: launch in 10 days, from $250 |
Notice that the right column carries specifics — a timeline, a price, a condition. That is what people scan for.
The mobile landing page
Most paid traffic is mobile, so the page is designed from the phone outwards, not the other way round.
- The heading fits in two or three lines, not six.
- The button is visible without scrolling.
- The phone number is tappable and dials immediately.
- There are no long empty gaps between blocks: on a phone, scrolling «into nothing» feels like the end of the page.
- Heavy elements — video, large images — load after the first screen.
Frequent questions
Do we need a separate page for every ad?
For every group with a distinct intent, yes. For every ad within a group, no — those differ in wording, not in meaning.
A landing page or a page on the site?
A service page on the site is usually enough if it is done properly. A separate landing page is for promotions, new directions and tests.
Can we send advertising straight to a messenger, skipping the site?
Yes, and in some niches it works better: the barrier is lower. But you lose the chance to show proof and prices before contact.
How many requests do we need to evaluate a page?
At least 30–50. Below that, the difference between versions is almost always noise.
Should we remove the menu from the page?
On a standalone landing page, yes — it leads people away. On a service page inside the site the menu stays: people there may be looking for related sections.
How many forms should be on the page?
One, repeated in two or three places as you scroll. Different forms with different offers force a choice and lower conversion.
